JACEK Chocolate Commerce Ecosystem
When I joined the team at JACEK Chocolate, our online store was not seamlessly integrated into the customer journey and internal backend processes were not fully digitalized. The store was operated through WooCommerce with a customized Wordpress theme, developed and maintained by an external agency. Given our budget-conscious approach as a small business, we needed a more sustainable, low-code solution, that would allow us to build an integrated technology stack across marketing and in-store sales platforms.
I identified customer and internal user pain points with the existing platform and researched different options. Shopify offered a comprehensive low-code, omnichannel environment and seamless integration with marketing and order fulfillment tools. By migrating the store to Shopify, we enhanced our operations and customer experience, offering multiple pick-up locations and shipping options and new features, like a "Build-a-box" tool - a popular in-store offering previously unavailable online.

I involved team members, who would work with the platform on a daily basis, throughout the research, testing & implementation phases; created manuals, and provided training. Order fulfillment times were cut by 40% and online sales revenue grew by 145% the following year.

Throughout the years, we have cultivated an engaged community of email subscribers, anchored by our unique approach of offering our Advent Calendar pre-order exclusively to them before opening up to the public. This strategy has resulted in six consecutive years of sell-outs. In 2021, our production team aimed to meet heightened demand by crafting and packing an increased number of chocolate calendars.
To sustain this momentum, we conceived the notion of launching a dedicated online shop for the Advent Calendar allowing us to streamline the order fulfillment process. I built a new Shopify store from scratch, focusing on immersive storytelling and compelling visuals to evoke the enchantment of the holiday season. The result? We sold out within a mere 36 hours of the exclusive pre-order launch, a testament to the power of community and storytelling.
